Mermaid Mariner 135 BHP @ 2600 RPM Overview

The Mermaid “Mariner” is a 6 cylinder, naturally aspirated heavy duty marine diesel engine and is based on the highly reliable Ford ”Dover” series industrial engine.

The engine is suitable for all commercial duties and in particular for inshore fishing vessels and small workboats of all types. The long life expectancy of this engine also makes it appropriate to the discerning pleasure boat owner where the unit is frequently specified for both sailing and power cruisers.

To meet the requirements of these varied applications the design incorporates the very latest diesel engine technology to minimise noise levels and exhaust emissions whilst maintaining an exceptionally low fuel consumption.

Each engine is “Hand Built” to the highest possible standards and incorporates a special all-steel fresh water cooled exhaust manifold, which eliminates corrosion problems frequently associated with this vulnerable component, and a twin V belt drive for the fresh water circulating pump and the alternator for the extra reliability for which Mermaid engines are renowned.

After assembly every engine is Dynamometer tested to ensure it performs to specification and finally is carefully finished in either Mermaid white or commercial blue enamel to protect the engine throughout its life.
